Sustainer Spotlight: Margaret Alagia-Ingram

Most Junior League of Washington may have seen the artwork in the Loughborough Room and wondered about the story behind the works and the artist who created them. The artist is Margaret Alagia-Ingram, one of our own! She is a Sustainer with the JLW.

During her Active Membership years starting in 1987, Margaret applied her marketing and art skills to her volunteer work with the Columbia Hospital for Women, Esprit, Capitol Collection (now Holiday Shops), and the Corcoran committees.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky she was encouraged from a young age to pursue art. She studied design and marketing at the University of Dayton and went on to become an art director in advertising for both print and television. Margaret resumed her love of painting and her strong sense of design and color are evident in her six oils now on display at JLW Headquarters.

Her artwork has been on display throughout the region, including at the Mansions in May Design Show House (Morris Township, NJ), the Yellow Barn (Glen Echo, MD), and the WC & AN Miller Company (Bethesda, MD).

For our JLW members and guests, we invite you to enjoy the collection at your next JLW Headquarters event. The six oils that comprise the collection displayed in the Loughborough Room are listed below (left to right):
