JLW Community Partner Horton's Kids Honored by Catalogue for Philanthropy

The Junior League of Washington is proud to partner with a range of extraordinary community organizations that make a real difference in the lives of children in the DC area. One of those partners, Horton's Kids, was recently given an honor by the Greater Washington Catalogue for Philanthropy. Horton's Kids, a nonprofit focused on providing needed services for children in DC's Ward 8, was named one of the top community-based nonprofits focusing on services for children, youth and families. The Catalogue serves to "shine a light" on fantastic organizations that are high-achieving in the areas of cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and financial transparency.

From June 2011 to May 2012, JLW volunteered 540 hours in monthly field trips, provided, 320 hours of weekly tutoring, served 540 lunches, and donated 100 books to Horton's Kids. We are proud of our community partner for earning this honor and are thrilled to continue working with them to educate and empower children in DC's Ward 8.
