President's Blog: Take 2!

This year, we have been working hard to reach out to JLW members to see how we can make their time with the League as rewarding as possible. One way we’re doing that is by listening to what you, our membership, thinks about the JLW’s many efforts through the Annual Membership Survey.

By simply taking 10 minutes of your time and filling out the survey you’ll be providing the League with valuable information that will be used to further enhance your League experience for years to come.

You might wonder why some of the questions are the same as in years past.  This is because we need to track responses from year to year so as to gauge our progress on how the membership feels the JLW is progressing within its three main goals as outlined in the Strategic Plan: Building Community Impact, Building the JLW Brand, and Building an Internal Sense of Community.

Please, help out the JLW and take 10 minutes and fill out the survey so we can hear what you have to say about your JLW experience. #JLWlistens

President's Blog

The work that our League does would not be possible without members like you.  Your role within the League from volunteering at National Book Fest, to working with our community partners, and everything in between is what makes the JLW possible.

That’s why it’s so important we hear from you via the Annual Survey – tell us what you think the League is doing well and what can be improved – so that we may continue to fulfill our mission in everything we do while making your experience the best it can possibly be.

The Annual Survey is used each year to track our progress on core strategic goals of the League. To ensure that we are able to serve our members effectively and meet our strategic goals, we ask that you take the survey by logging in to www.jlw.org and you’ll find it on your member home page (or click the link above!)

On behalf of the entire Board, we appreciate your taking time to complete the survey and all that you do for the League.

Thank you!

Bubbly With the Board

On January 12, 2015, the Junior League of Washington’s Membership Outreach Committee and Board of Directors hosted its fourth Bubbly with the Board (BWTB), a panel event designed to provide league member with an open forum to communicate with JLW leadership. More than 50 women attended.

Women were welcomed to the Loughborough Room as champagne bottles popped and guests mingled and enjoyed the spread of food. At 7 p.m. attendees took their seats, as a panel of JLW board members, including President Jennifer Hemingway and President-elect Cameron Gilreath, began answering pre-submitted questions about: how to become more involved in leadership opportunities; maintaining a work/life/volunteer balance; the leagues positive impact on other area’s in the BOD member’s lives; and more.

“The Membership Outreach Committee sees this event as the perfect opportunity for members and the board alike to learn from one another in an intimate setting. The responses the board members provide are very candid, and that can also be said about the questions submitted. Both sides benefit from their attendance,” said Miranda McDaniel, chair of the Membership Outreach Committee.
